Mamak, Haymarket NSW

Is there ever NOT a line at Mamak? Nopes, there’s always a line there, but hey, at least we didn’t have to wait long before we scored ourselves a table! Woot!

This place is definitely popular and packed with patrons. All. The. Time. Good sign!

The service is quick, speedy and polite. The atmosphere is exciting and the chit chatter of other diners. The decor is bright and airy but tables and chairs can get kinda cramped but hey, you get past that and just enjoy the delicious food on offer! Before a crazy night out (yes, we knew it was going to be rather crazy already), we headed out for dinner before proceeding with the night of fun filled activities. 😉

Having ordered so many dishes from our previous visit already, I played the guinea pig roll and opted to try something different on the menu:

mamak rojak
Rojak, $12.00
A Malaysian-style salad. Prawn and coconut fritters, fried tofu, hard-boiled eggs, freshly shredded yambean and cucumber, topped with a thick spicy peanut sauce.

Hello to prawn and coconut fritters! Crunchy goodness with no oil seeping out. Most excellent. The salad itself was light with a great combination of textures and colours and the sauce… Ooh lah la!

mamak mee goreng
Mee goreng, $10.50
Wok-tossed hokkien noodles with eggs, prawns, fish cake slices and fresh bean sprouts.
yum – a tad bit on the oily side.

mamak beverages, ice milk tea, half tea half coffee
Cham, Half tea, half coffee; $3.50
Teh ais, Ice milk tea; $3.50

OHEMGEE, known for their famous rotis, we werent able to fit any in this time around, theres always next time!
