Chopstix on Rundle, Adelaide

To kick the night off, N and I rocked up at Chopstix on Rundle [St] for some tucker before heading over to the Garden of Unearthly Delights to see generation Y comedian – Josh Thomas.

Luckily for us, we both knew our waiter *wink*, and got some excellent service and suggestions as to what to order! 😉

With a massive withdrawal from Sydney food, most notably, Wagaya, Mamak, Seoul Ria, Milliore, Bread Top (nostalgic moment ensues), I had to order some roti to fill in that missing void.

chopstix, roti canai garlic bread
Roti canai garlic bread served with curry sauce, $4.90
Definitely not what I was expecting… and unfortunately did not live up to expectations or Mamak’s standard for that matter, BUT it was crunchy and tasty teamed up with a flavourful curry sauce.

salt an pepper crocodile
Salt and pepper crocodile, $12.90
Can I just say YUM?!! This was pretty awesome, the white meat resembles a cross between chicken and squid with the texture in between these two as well. Slightly chewy, light crispy batter teamed up with some nice vegetables. YUM YUM!!

thai fried rice with duck
Thai fried rice with duck, $17.90
By the time our main got out, we were pretty stuffed (BOO), but from what we got to have, this was pretty a-ok! Gotta love duck meat. Oh nhom nhom nhom~

Went here one lunchtime on the strength of this review, and because I haven’t had crocodile for years! Couldn’t wait for the Sizzling Ginger Crocodile to appear in front of me but it just wasn’t great – the julienned ginger was good but the crocodile was tough and the dish cooled quickly to look like braised vegetables. I’m sure S&P Croc would have been much better, but it wasn’t on the menu. My partner rated his chicken laksa 4/10. What a disappointment!

The place was fairly full though, and I can only imagine everyone was there for the Lunch Special.

Oh that’s a shame about the crocodile and laksa but thanks for the review anyhow! Hope you enjoyed your stay in lil ol Adelaide. 🙂
