Star House, Adelaide

Spontaneous Sunday yum cha at Star House with a group of 4 girls (myself included), almost like a SATC catch up date!

With empty stomachs to feed and hungry eyes to please, we order a mountain of food (sadly some were devoured before my brain registered that I needed to glorify its delectable presence on my lcd screen! Heh.)

Service was kind of poor as displayed when ordering a coke on two separate occasions. The first coke order got through where a 375ml can was presented, however on the second occasion, we were presented with a 330ml can. Look, I know it’s only a 45ml difference… but it’s a difference! Hahaha, we enquire with one of the waiters the discrepancy of coke can volumes hoping he’ll clear our query and correct the bill if need be. Unfortunately for us, he just mumbled along saying that both cans will be charged at different costs. (Psst, that’s when you’re supposed to correct our bill buddy!)

star house, yum cha, cheong fan, har gao
Cheong fan (rice noodles with prawn) and har gao (prawn dumplings)

star house, yum cha, ox tripe,
Ox tripe, chicken feet in black bean sauce and fried bean curd sheets stuffed with prawns

star house, yum cha, salt and pepper squid
Prawn something something ?? and salt and pepper squid

star house, yum cha, deep fried tofu
Rice noodles with youtiao (commonly known as Chinese bread stick or Chinese donut) and deep fried tofu and prawn

The problem we have with eating with our eyes is that we fail to recognise how much food our stomachs can hold! I apologise to the prawn dumpling left behind, and the chicken feet, and the tripe, and the rice noodles. I promise next time, we’ll order more prudently and devour you all! 😛

oh my gosh, your blog is AMAZING!
I am always looking for new tasty eats in Adelaide, but it’s scary trying new places for fear of being disappointed! LOVED your review of Wasai Japanese kitchen – went there for the first time with my boyfriend for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago – seriously the best Japanese ever!
    I’ll be back soon!
