Last minute dinner plans were in progress for NW’s birthday – venue of choice – The Strathmore Hotel. I arrive early and patiently wait for some familiar faces to show up before commencing in. The place is buzzing with patrons, most of whom have been there since the Melbourne Cup race or the after work crowd, all suited up, ladies in dresses, fascinators, bags and all.
The birthday girl is fashionable late, and as I’m told, it’s a natural occurrence 😉 . Once everyone has settled down and had a chance to peruse through the menu, we all go order our meals at the bar.
Stone grill skewers: A skewer platter of prawns, kangaroo, lamb and chicken, chips and salad; $25.90
Stone grill 250g Rump with chips and salad; $22.50
Cajun grilled barramundi with fresh garden salad and chips; $17.90
Whilst everyone orders something from the stone grill menu – I opt for something different and lighter – the Cajun Barramundi. (Now why didn’t I just go for something on the stonegrill cause once the dishes started emerging, it looked and smelt so good! There’s just something about cooking your own food that makes it that much better! 🙂 I find the barramundi slightly dry and uninteresting. Also, where’s my wedge of lemon?! Hot tip, go for the stone grill peoples! Am planning another visit with a stone grill in my sights. 😉
