The Goody, Goodwood

My weekends are always buzzing with catch up dates with friends, getting weekly chores done and finding some time for myself that I don’t get during the week days. That in turn, actually makes my work week super long before the weekend comes around, so a dinner date on a weeknight that breaks the flow was looked favourably upon. Obviously this cannot be a weekly thing as my waistline and pockets won’t agree!

Our party of five head to the southern suburbs and hit up The Goody on Goodwood road for a feed. We find our reserved booth and one by one slide our way in. (I love booths! So much more cozy and intimate)

There’s a decent crowd for a weeknight and lots of families are out. Helps that the weather has cooled down over a short 30+ degree weather stint!

Complimentary bread with Western Star butter
Pan fried duck with vermicilli, soy, honey and chilli sauce; $26.00

C loved this light and refreshing dish with mountains of flavour, texture and colour.

the goody bar bistro gaming, chicken
Chicken Maryland filled with pistachio, orange and basil and served with baby carrots and beets in sage butter; $25.00
Very tender and juicy chicken, with perfectly cooked beets and baby carrots. The pistachio filling gave it a lovely crunch and contrast in texture however the dish lacked in flavour and salt needed to be added. I also would have preferred there to be less sage butter as everything was coated in the butter resulting in a slightly heavier meal than expected.

MSA 300g Scotch Fillet Steak with a char grilled vegetable skewer, caramelized shallots and spicy summer beetroot relish; $26.00

We all saved a bit of room in our tummies for some dessert… dessert house in mind was Eggless seeing that we were already in the same area, but that idea quickly dashed as there was a line up outside and we couldn’t be bothered waiting. Plan B, the chocolate bean just off Rundle street in the city – that fell through as well as they had no room to accommodate our small group of now (a late arrival). Another alternative was to hit up Cocolat and third time lucky, we secure a long table enough for our party of six.

Top deck hot chocolate and chai latte

Perfect way to cap off the night!

Can’t agree with you more on dining out on a weeknight! It can make an unbearable week appear delightful again!
