Urban Deli, Melbourne

So just recently, I made my way to Melbourne treating myself to a small holiday and most importantly, TENNIS – even more important than food (shock, horror!) ! Sure, I had plans on places where I wanted to try out… but plans don’t always work out, especially when you’re on holidays. You gotta just go with the flow. Surprisingly, I didn’t really think much of my tummy, more so about what tennis matches I was going to go see and who I was going to feast my eyes on (Fed, I got my eyes on you!) ! Most of my days were spent at Melbourne Park, and on the odd occasion or two, I’d treat my stomach to a ‘Gourmet Hot Dog’ at 8 bucks a pop consisting of a hot dog bun, kransky , cheese and tomato sauce :)~

After spending a night in Melbourne, friend and I headed to a nearby cafe – Urban Deli to grab ourselves a much needed caffeine hit and breakfast which was bustling with city workers and patrons. The cafe is big, split into two levels with window bar tables, stools, outside tables and a large display of fresh sandwiches, wraps and baguettes. Upstairs prove to be a more tame and quite area with a view overlooking the city streets

I ordered the ‘brekky 4’ consisting of poached eggs on toast with crumbed feta, spinach and mushrooms. DELISH! The feta, sauteed spinach and mushrooms are splendid and flavourful; and the poached egg was runny and gooey – just the way I like it. All gobbled up with the a slice of crunchy thick toast – a lovely combination of textures. :)~

I’ll end off with some of my snaps whilst on my tennis adventure during the Australian Open 2011! πŸ™‚

    Hi There Dbites,
Neat Post, Though Sydney gets much credit for being the most lucrative and financially important city in Australia, Melbourne is a metropolitan masterpiece all its own. As the second most populous city in the mostly barren Australia, Melbourne has always stood in the shadow of Sydney and its immaculate Opera House but this treasure trove in the state of Victoria is far from Sydney on the southern tip of Australia near Tasmania. This distance makes all the difference for the more than four million people who call Melbourne home and the vast variety of exciting sights the city has to offer will quickly make you forget about the rest of Australia.
I look forward to your next post
