The Wine Underground, Adelaide [Closed]

Friend and I hit up The Wine Underground for a Champagne Lunch Menu (bottomless champagne, booyeahhh~) on a lovely Saturday afternoon.

Entrée: chef’s selection tasting platter: chicken drumettes, capsicum gazpacho and something something. My memory escapes me!

the wine underground
Crispy skinned Atlantic salmon, rocket panzanella baba ganoush

the wine underground
Char grilled scotch fillet, pomme frites, roast tomato and hollandaise

I order the scotch fillet which comes out well done instead of my preferred medium, but that’s gotta do with the waiter taking our orders… she failed to ask me how I wanted me meat cooked. Nevertheless, although the fillet was slightly small, it was flavorful and went well with the pomme frites (YUM – shame there weren’t more!) and rocket salad. I probably would’ve preferred a red wine jus over the hollandaise though as I found it a bit too heavy for my liking.

the wine underground
Chocolate gateau and chantilly cream

Rich and decadent but not overly sweet! Favourite meal of the day! :)~

Dined using a scoopon deal: $49.00 for two people includes: 3 course lunch and free flowing champagne.

The steak looks very small though…..discouraged me from going there.

    Anyway, like your reviews~~

It was small but in hindsight, just enough to get me to a point of ‘nicely full’. Just quickly headed to your blog and looks like you had a nice time there and enjoyed the food too! 🙂

Yes, I did. But cos I am a big eater~~LOL :D. I still feel it’s not enough for myself to have a main alone. Haha, but my wife loved the place. Anyway, thanks for your reviews. It really gave me some idea on the sizes before I went the other night. 🙂

Your meal actually looks larger than what we received. We also did the Scoopon and got the salmon and steak. Both the salmon and steak portion were tiny. I wouldn’t want to pay $35 per main. Our dessert was a square of sticky date cake cut out of a slab with no cream or icecream. Was most dissapointing.

The champagne would have made up for it perhaps if we didn’t have to drive. They would only let us book a Tuesday lunch though and the entire place was packed with people with scoopon’s. (I also did a Scoopon back in Feb and it was much better – so perhaps service and food went downhill as more people tried to use their scoopons)

Have you used Scoopons at any other places that you would recommend? I used one at the Kings Head that was ok.
