A lovely summer’s day was set aside for the lovely J and I to go and grab a small bite to eat by the waters at New Port – a few minutes drive from Port Adelaide. The sun was out, a nice cool breeze in the air, calm waters and sightings of HUGE jelly fishes and a playful dolphin by the dock! Splendid. PS. bring a map with you as we had trouble locating where the restaurant was! Oh, and have their number stored on your phone as well, just in case you need to call them up for directions whilst you’re in the vicinity and still can’t find them. Heh. 🙂
Starter: ciabatta bread with dukkah, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar; $7.00
Tapas: salt and pepper calamari with fresh lemon, wild rocket; $13.00
One can never go wrong with a start of ciabatta bread, dukkah, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Gotta load up on some carbs before a meal… >.<
The salt and pepper calamari were ok – they were slightly chewy and soft and not as crunchy as I expected.
Smoked salmon roulades filled with cipollina, panegretato, formaggio cremoso; $11.00
Portobello mushrooms, parmesan crostini, mustard seed aioli; $11.00
Delicious! Sweet, juicy and packed full of flavour. The balsamic vinegar gives it an extra punch and works well with the cubes of parmesan crostini. Am salivating just thinking about it, heh.
Massini chantilly creme brulee cake; $7.50
There’s always room for dessert and it’s still early in the day, so we both share the creme brulee cake. Soft, light, fluffy, spongy sweet goodness paired with a cold creamy vanilla ice cream. YUM!!
Lovely day, splendid view and wonderful company!
