This time last year, I found myself with a few girlfriends wining and dining at one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Adelaide – Rigoni’s which is tucked discreetly on Leigh Street just off Hindley Street, a short walk from Rundle Mall. A year later, I am back and excited to try out their new seasonal menu.
Our waiter is friendly, helpful and super patient as we took our time deciding on what to order in amongst our chit chat as we were catching up with the happenings of the last few weeks! We decide on our mains along with a bottle of wine.
Arrosto zucca lasagne: roasted pumpkin lasagne with potato & gruyere, caramelised shallots & sage cream sauce; $28.90
Anatra alla griglia con petto: grilled duck breast on carrot puree with chocolate and confit duck leg lasagne, baby carrots & jus; $34.90
Pesche melba: saffron & vanilla poached yellow peach with pistachio praline, vanilla gelati & rosewater syrup; $13.90
I loved my main! The duck was cooked perfectly: moist and juicy; the carrot puree: creamy, sweet and smooth like velvet, and the combination of chocolate and confit duck lasagne – who would’ve thought!
After our fabulous meals, we moved on to dessert… or in this case, I moved on to dessert whilst K continues to sip/chug on our bottle of wine. From my previous visit, I remembered how much I enjoyed the peach melba so it was time to have this delectable dessert again! YUM YUM.
Just as good as the first time.. although a bit smaller and darker in colour. Sweet, juicy, with a crunch from the praline, cooling with the vanilla ice cream and refreshing rose syrup. Delicious!
Highly recommended! Prices may be a bit steep and serving sizes a tad bit smaller than what I’m used to, but they make it up in terms of food, flavour and service! Great meal, fab service, awesome night !
