The Aviary Dessert Kitchen, Norwood

Anyone notice the sudden influx of dessert places springing up around Adelaide? How great is it? There are now a variety of dessert joints to hit up on with friends and family for a nice little catch up late at night – just what Adelaide needs! One of the more recent dessert houses to sprint up is The Aviary Dessert Kitchen located on The Parade, a short drive from the city centre. The website is fantastic, the logo, the simplicity and all the info you need on how to get there, what you can order and contact details. This is my second time visiting this place and it’s safe to say, best to make a booking on a weekend cause this joint fills up fast! The interior is also very lovely, the subtle gold print wallpaper, tin pot plants with bright green plants lining a ledge (what looks like it was once a fireplace), large bird cages and a mix of furniture, white garden chairs, soft purple velvet stools and a long booth for a large group of people. Okay, onto the desserts!

Green Tea Matcha Latte, $4.20
Eton Mess: Light and crisp meringues with fresh fruit and cream, $9.00
The Aviary Ice Cream Sundae: green tea and black sesame ice cream topped off with fresh strawberries, rich hot chocolate sauce, almond & hazelnut praline, $9.50

Second time here, and second time ordering the green tea latte! SUCH. BLISS. Finally a joint that makes this lovely concoction that I first laid my hands on whilst in Sydney – the search is now OVER! Sweet, velvety smooth green tea latte, just what one needs to warm up during this cold snap. Presentation is lovely for the eton mess, the dessert itself is light, crispy and fluffy and compliments well with the fresh fruit cutting through the sweetness of the meringues. Presentation for my ice cream sundae, not exactly the most pretty thing out there, but having said that, it tasted wonderfully! If you know me, you know I LOVE my green tea and black sesame ice cream, and when paired with strawberries, chocolate sauce and the heavenly almond and hazelnut praline – you get a mouthful of wonderful flavours and textures. *crunch crunch*

Will have to return sometime soon and try out the rest of the menu, but until then, there are other dessert joints to check out! 😉

Have you guys checked out this place yet? Let me know what I should try next!

Sounds so good. I haven’t tried a green tea latte. Will be putting this on my list of places to try next time I am in town.
