Ahhh back to a favourite of mine: Queen Street Cafe. Rain or shine, this place is filled to the brim with customers and more often than not, you’d have to wait it out to score yourself a table but rest assured, the wait is well worth it!
After a brief stint at the gym, a trio of us took a pit stop and found ourselves coming to the mercy of our hungry bellies. The all day breakfast blackboard menu perched high above the kitchen and counter area gets our attention and food and coffee is ordered stat!
It was busyyyyy which only delayed our food from arriving sooner but once it did, there were no words. We were too engrossed in our food to resume our conversation that the only noises heard were ‘Mmmm’, ‘Omg, you have to try this’, ‘This is SO gooooood’. And good, it was!
Poached eggs with chorizo, tomato compote and rocket on rye bread; $16.90
Scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, goats’ curd and baby spinach; $17.90
I ordered the poached eggs with chorizo and my oh my, that tomato compote was amazing. Juicy, sweet and sour notes complimenting each bite of bread, eggs and chorizo. Those eggs were poached perfectly, soft and jiggly; and when the knife cut through, a river of runny golden yolk oozed out. Look at it glisten! Each last bit of the yolk was happily mopped up with whatever bread I had left over. :)~
The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was also a hit with the others; light and refreshing, a perfect start to the morning.
Another successful bite at Queen St Cafe, thanks for kick starting my morning with your delicious breakfast and coffee! Oh the coffee!
