A bachelorette party for J sees our group of 20 of so kicking off celebrations at Parlamento for a hearty tasty meal on North Terrace, just across the road from the Adelaide train station/Adelaide casino ;).

Starters and entrees:
Bruschetta al pomodoro – tomato, basil, olive oil, garlic on toasted ciabatta; $8.50
Sformato di ricotta – baked ricotta, leek, chives, parmesan, nutmeg wrapped in prosciutto – served with oven-dried tomato, extra-virgin olive oil; $15.90
Insalata di rucola e funghi – grilled mushrooms marinated in garlic, chilli parsley, olive oil – served on chargrilled ciabatta with rocket; $14.90
Polpette: Italian styled meatballs braised in tomato salsa – served on soft polenta with rocket
The bruschetta was delicious! Super duperly crunchy ciabatta lightly dressed in olive oil topped with fresh tomato, fragrant basil and a hint of garlic. So tasty and delicious that I went back for seconds, and thirds… and had to resist the fourth time in order to fit in my entree and main! Phew.
I opted for the grilled mushrooms and boy oh boy, they were super sweet and juicy! Shame it had to be served on ciabatta as I just knocked off three ciabattas for starters but nevertheless, this plate came up empty in no time!
I also heard that the meatballs were amazing with many wishing that it was their mains and as for the baked ricotta, my dinner partner to my right – (Hi C!), found the flavours to be too bold and strong for her palette. I stole a bite and had to agree. 😛
Involtini di tacchino: roast turkey breast escalopes filled with baby spinach, smoked ham, dijon mustard, nutmeg, rosemary in white wine – served with steamed carrot, broccolini; $29.90
Scaloppine ai funghi: veal medallions panfried with olive oil, garlic, oyster and swiss brown mushrooms, white wine, veal glaze and cream served on rosemary potatoes
Salt and pepper squid with rocket, tartare sauce and wedges of lemon
Unfortunately for me, by the time mains arrived I was full! Those ciabattas were to blame. I took a bite out of my turkey before distributing it out to others for them to have a taste. Heh. The turkey was on the dry side with a muddle of flavours: smoked ham, dijon mustard, nutmeg and rosemary? I didn’t think it worked very nicely together.
Service was very good, although there were a few confusions at the beginning (mainly due to our huge table) things went well afterwards. Very attentive, friendly and accommodating!
