Once CT and I touched down in Sydney, we promptly checked in to our apartment and ventured out into Surry Hills for a quick bite to eat. My mission was to order their famous corn fritters and/or ricotta hot cakes. To tell you the truth, I had a mini itinerary on where to go over my time in Sydney, not those itineraries where one goes to do things, see things, but the one where one goes to feed themselves with delicious food!
We both legged it from the CBD to Surry Hills, I never knew how flat Adelaide was compared to the eastern cities where their roads are steep and hilly. We made our way slowly up the hills through to Surry Hills before we reach our destination: Bills! (At least the walk back was a lot more cruisier!)
The place was packed with customers with a few empty tables available. Luckily for us, we managed to snag a table as soon as we arrived! The place is bright and inviting with lots of natural light seeping in through the large windows and the friendly wait staff are dressed casually in jeans and a white tee making the environment and dining experience light, casual and laid back.
Semolina-crusted calamari with lemon, parsley, green beans and fennel; $19.50
Sweet corn fritters with roast tomato, spinach and bacon; $18.50
These were delightful! Crispy on the outside with plentiful sweet juicy corn kernels. ~
If you’re ever in town or nearby, I suggest you give their corn fritters or ricotta hot cakes a go and let me know what you think!
