A quiet Friday night saw N and I heading to Steven ter Horst for a chocolate hit after we ogled our eyes at the gorgeous models on the latest Victoria Secret fashion show! You would think that THAT should deter us from going anywhere near anything high in calories!! Yeah, well I guess not. Temptations were too strong and we buckled. Ha!
I mean, look at these desserts! How could anyone say no? It had our names written all over them. :)~ As the saying often goes, ‘Everything in moderation!!‘
Our stash for the night:
Chocolate truffle tart: luscious dark chocolate ganache over crunchy hazelnut praline base served with berry coulee; $6.70
Mascarpone Dream: mascarpone mousse with caramel hazelnut cream and hazelnut daquoise biscuit base; $7.70
Flat white and soy latte; $3.30 each
I ordered the chocolate truffle tart this time around (I’ve almost conquered everything in their dessert fridge.. hahaha!) and boy oh boy, the slice was super rich, dense and heavenly. So so sooooo good, not too sweet and just incredibly moreish. I must admit though, half way through I was struggling from the richness! A sip from my latte and I was digging back into it. Heh! The crunchy base was delectable with surprises of crunch with a nice tang from the berry coulee cutting through the rich rich chocolate. I think it may have been wiser of me to order a tea with the tart. (Note to self for future reference.)
