Mamak Corner, Adelaide

Quick catch up with the ladies over dinner at Mamak Corner:

Cold Cham: Malaysian style coffee and tea blend; $3.50
Nasi lemak: a traditional Malaysian dish served with fragrant coconut rice accompanied with chicken, sambal, crispy anchovies, cucumber and hard boiled egg; $9.80
Maggi goreng: magi noodles with prawns, egg, fresh bean sprouts and special sauce; $9.80
Roti canai: original mamak flatbread; $4.50
Air mawar: rose flavoured drink on ice; $3.00

The chicken curry that came with the nasi lemak was tender and flavourful but we would have appreciated if there was more meat on the two pieces that was served – all bones, no meat.

The noodles were delicious with its faint smoky flavour from the hot wok, the ‘special’ sauce and the glistening yolk from the sunny side up egg. Yum! However, it’s on the oily side resulting in instant glossy lips for all. HA!

Finished off with something sweet:

Roti tisu; $8.50

The roti tisu was ultra paper thin, super flaky and crisp. The cone was light and covered in sugar on the inside, so best to dust off as much sugar as you can before eating it cause it elevated our sugar levels really high really fast! Having said that, I haven’t even mentioned its accompaniments! Ice cream, a dash of chocolate sauce and a small dish of sweet condensed milk; sugar overload right there! We cracked through half of the cone before admitting defeat!
