Culshaw’s Grill

Chargrilled scotch fillet with a Queensland blue and smokey paprika squash topped with rich port wine glaze
Vanilla bean and rosella flower panacotta, with candied orange and white chocolate drizzled rosewater jelly
Caramelised rhubarb and apple crumble topped with macadamia with housemade anglaise
Having been to Culshaw’s Grill before, I knew what to expect in terms of food and service but I was really hoping for a better experience the second time around. I ordered the steak and although the steak was cooked medium rare to my liking, the accompaniments did little to enhance the meal. The squash was lumpy and cold and the wine glaze lacked flavour and punch. I would’ve much preferred an extra side of veggies or chips (it’s starting to sound like a pub meal!) creamy mash to pair with the steak. As for the dessert, it didn’t get any better; the crumble was sickeningly sweet resulting in one spoonful and my sugar quota was met for the day.
So readers… where do you suggest I get my steak fix next?

Hi D. Our group went to Cardone’s at Glenelg recently and had an awesome and perfectly cooked steak. We ordered sides which were excellent too. We didn’t really need the potato one though. The rocket salad and the vegies were very good. Not cheap, but good value with an Entertainment Card!
Hi Ann,
Thanks for the recommendation; that’s another one for the memory bank!
Have you been to the Lion on Melbourne St? The restaurant, not the pub. Delicious steaks paired with creamy mash and red wine glaze. Also really good fat chips
Oh yes I have! I haven’t been back for a while though. Thanks for the tip and dropping by!
