Another dinner deal and this time with CT at a newly opened Korean restaurant on Currie Street: $49 for a 3 course Korean meal for 2. The restaurant is opposite TAFESA and the red signage is the only bright thing on that side of the street – can’t miss it! Psst, they’ve also got karaoke rooms for hire one level up from the restaurant. 😉
Jap chae: clear noodles, stir fried bulgogi (marinated grilled beef), mushrooms, red peppers, onions and green onions in kang nam made sauce; $15.00
Started off with one of our favourites – the jap chae, however I found it bland and boring with little vegetables.
Jaeyook bokum: stir fried pork loins, mushrooms, onions, green onions and seasonal vegetables; M $27.00
Bulgogi bokum: stir fried sliced beef, soy sauce, rice wine, granulate, garlic, pepper, sesame oil with green onion; M $27.00
Seafood jungol: a large variety of seafood, shrimp, calamari, crab, clam, mussels and vegetables; $35.00
The mains were a step up from the entree. The pork was tender and had some welcomed heat in the sauce whilst the beef was more subdued and sweet. The seafood hotpot was the saviour of the night – spicy broth with a good amount of seafood, addicting and comforting. Our hot pot was automatically downsized by the owner that was serving us because he assumed that “we wouldn’t finish it” (righttttt… :/) Overall, mediocre meal and patchy service with the occasional language barrier that may cause some confusion on both parties.
