After something cheap, quick and tasty in the East end of the city and the cafes and restaurants on Rundle Street just aren’t tickling your fancy? Why not head down to East End Yiros on Grenfell Street for a quick bite?
Situated on the corner of Grenfell Street and Liberman Close (a short walk from Ebenezer Place and through the neighbouring apartment blocks will save you from walking around the block) will get you here. I flew solo on my visit and was contemplating between the platter for one or the yiros (a hungry stomach calls for hungry eyes!). The lovely lady behind the counter highly recommended that I order the small yiros, or what I like to call it- the fun sized yiros!
Combo yiros (small); $8.00
Perfect! Succulent char grilled tender meats with a generous serving of fresh crispy lettuce, juicy tomato and a lashing of garlic sauce. Your breath won’t thank you but your taste buds surely will. Dine in or take away, they have seating upstairs, downstairs and outside-probably a tad bit too cold still but perfect when the weather warms up again. Psst… they also have a yiros and beer combo for $15.00 – perfect for the warmer months ahead!
The platter for two is apparently huge so bring your friends, your empty bellies and grab some grub during lunch or dinner!
As for which yiros’ are better? East End Yiros or Yianni’s on Hindley? I can’t say until I have them both at the same time (one in each hand, ) but heck, they’re both pretty good and at opposite ends of the city, they’re perfect for those late night hunger pangs. Yianni’s has a one up on East End though, only cause they’re open much later on weekends for those that need some grub to soak in some of that alcohol after a late night out.
