It’s been a long while since Scoopon came out with a worthy food deal so when one came out for A Hereford Beefstouw, I acted fast and got the deal to share with the stranger. Lunch for 2 for $29.00: Danish smørrebrød with any 4 dishes from the lunch menu plus a glass of wine, beer or San Pellegrino each.
We chose 4 items from the lunch menu to share, each item was of a different filling on an open faced sandwich on rye bread.
Dyrlægens Natmad: veterinarian’s midnight snack with pork liver pâté, beef aspic and corned beef; $8.00
Rullepølse: spiced pork belly roll with sliced onion and beef aspic; $7.00
Roast beef med remoulade: roast beef with remoulade; $7.00
Fiskefilet: fried fillet of flounder with remoulade; $10.00
The open faced sandwiches came out looking rather small, fresh and vibrant! The bread was surprisingly very hard and tough where I had difficulty getting my knife to cut through so most was left untouched! :/ Cold meats were soft and tender and the deep fried crumbed onion ring and flounder were splendid – not oily at all, lightly crumbed and crispy.
We also ordered a side of ‘fries’ as well. Fries people, not chips!
Nice, simple and different lunch. I’m intrigued with what they have to offer during their dinner service, wagyu beef carved at your table served with Japanese seaweed and mushrooms? Yes please! (Although a very hefty price tag is attached to it!) Service was a bit sketchy with just the one waiter tending to all the tables, he also happened to have a very thick accent so there was difficulty making out what he was trying to say. We’ll definitely return one day for dinner and take advantage of their outdoor seating area and awesome ‘mix your own’ salad bar!
