Biting my way through Los Angeles, USA [part 1]

I’m back on Aussie soil!! Where have I been you ask? I, along with Tiger hopped onto a plane or two and flew ourselves half way around the world to the States. Both of us were eager to pack on the calories, empty our wallets willingly at shopping malls and escape our 9-5 day job, albeit for a few short weeks! It’s always nice to stop and smell the roses – or in this case, fly across the world and go on a gastronomical and cultural adventure! ;)

For those that follow me on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram (kudos for hunting me down, hehe), you may have seen a mass spam of images of my vacation, particularly on IG. Well, apologies in advance but there will be some mass blog posting here (every Friday) within the coming weeks but I’ll mix it up with local eats so I don’t bore you all. :)

The first day we arrive and half the streets are blocked with the annual LA marathon on sponsored by Asics – approx. 26miles/42kms!

The thing about LA is that it’s a pain in the butt to get around without a car, everything is just so far away! For our very first meal, we stayed within walking distance and found a nearby bistro and grabbed a small bite.

Lakers win by a convincing margin even without star player Kobe Bryant, we end our night off with a dirty, greasy hotdog ($5.00USD) from one of the multiple carts set up outside the Staple Center. I still have nightmares about that hotdog! ICK!!

I thought the meals would be cheaper than that! Dog bones in the bank? I would love to scrutinize the aisles of US supermarkets. I think I could probably spend all day in there! A country which sells canned pumpkin has got to be interesting!

Yeah.. I honestly didn’t think food was ‘that’ cheap in America.

Thanks! It’s good to be home. :)
