A quick drop into Chuck Wagon 175 for a small feed. The stranger was here for their burger whilst I tackled their smaller plates and sides!
Ginger beer and root beer
Mexican corn: grilled corn on the cob with chipotle mayo and parmesan cheese on the side; $4.00
Now this was super rich and heavy. Luckily we asked for the parmesan to be on the side or else it would’ve been OTT with richness! I scraped most of the chipotle mayo off before I dug into the corn cob with each kernel bursting with a natural sweetness… yum! Just slightly heavy handed on the mayo but other than that, thumbs up from me.
Onion rings: double crusted onion rings fried to golden brown served with ketchup; $5.00
Fried pickles: double crusted and deep fried served with ranch; $4.00
The Chuck: 160gm chuck with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and garlic aioli on a toasted bun; $9.00
A caramelised and sweet soft onion ring inside the crispy fine double coated batter. Slightly greasy but still tasty. The fried pickles had a nice light crunch on the outside with a sharp juicy pickle that cut through the creamy ranch provided… and then the Chuck burger. Not one of the best ones we’ve had (I stole a bite.. hehe!). Small in size, the bun itself was lack lustre and flat and the burger as a whole bordered on the bland side in terms of flavour.
