First Pour, North Adelaide

Guess what Radelaidians? We too, have the famous and sought-after cronuts in our little city! What’s a cronut you ask? Half croissant, half donut. Mind boggling stuff really.

I first found out of said cronut via Grab Your Fork’s Instagram whilst she and her mates travelled and ate their way through America, as you do! (Psst, her cronut review is up and can be squizzed at here). Since I’m no way near NYC or will wake up at an ungodly hour to line up for one even if I was to be in the Big Apple, I’ll happily settle for the ones from Jenny’s Bakery that First Pour on Melbourne Street stock.

Cronut layerssssss~

I interpreted the cronut to be more of layered donut for me once I took a bite. The ‘croissant’ layers were evident and flaky however I found it on the dense side of things, much like your typical donut. Other ‘donut-y’ components in the cronut was the the sweet strawberry icing, sugar dusted on the outside and a sweet custard oozing between the layers in the centre. A tasty, albeit a bit expensive sweet treat to go along with my coffee! Follow the folks at Jenny’s Bakery to keep updated on other delectable cronut flavours they’ve got going on! Think: strawberry shortcake, ‎choc mint, lemon meringue, caramel latte, cookies and cream, hazelnut praline, cotton candy and strawberry, salted caramel popcorn and so much more! Are you drooling yet?!

Soy latte; $4.10

Great coffee and a selection of fresh wraps and sandwiches for a quick lunch break at First Pour too. Get to it!

It’s like the macaron trend.. but instead, it’s cronuts!

$7.50 for a cronut at First Pour but cheaper from the suppliers themselves at Jenny’s Bakery. Ranges from about $4.50-$5.00. 🙂
