Fancy Burger, Adelaide

I’ve always wanted to try out Fancy Burger in Blackwood after constant rave reviews over the world wide web but never really made the time/effort to get down there as other eatery options were more convenient and close. Due to their success, they’ve now branched out and opened a second location in the heart of the Adelaide CBD just off Rundle Street on Synagogue Place; within walking distance from work too, score!

Service was a bit ‘iffy’ on arrival, with a short line up at the counter. Surprisingly, the wait staff continued on with what they were doing walking back and forth from the counter yet no acknowledgement was made to the waiting patrons. After a few solid minutes of waiting, two wait staff proceeded to the counter and started taking customer orders.

Burger time!

Mini Sunrise; $8.00
The Biggy: 100% South Aussie beef, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, free range egg, beetroot, herby mayo, salad, relish; $13.50 (background)
Small chips with smoked chilli mayo; $2.90 and $1.50

I ordered the mini sunrise from the ‘Fancy Mini Burger’ section of the menu. A mini burger of 100% South Aussie beef, fresh avocado, semi dried tomatoes, lightly grilled pineapple, herby mayo, lettuce and relish. Perfectly sized and so satisfying. The meat pattie was thick and juicy whilst the other ingredients were lively and fresh with lots of flavour, all sandwiched between two toasted sesame buns. The chips weren’t anything special but the smoked chilli mayo definitely made up for it; good smoky flavour with a hint of heat.

Service and attentiveness could definitely be improved on but I’ll happily go back and treat my taste buds to another fancy mini burger. 😉

The burgers are overpriced & not worth the money! For the price you pay, they are very short on the fillings. 1 piece of lettuce, 1 thin slice of tomato, 1 thin onion ring. I also waited over 1/2 an hour for my order after being told it would be 10 mins. It’s a rip off. Don’t bother!

I can vouch for their gluten free buns, they are pretty good and I am happy to stay true to my wheat intolerance in those cases (normally I just ignore it).

A carbon copy rip off of the interstate chain ‘Grill’d’ right down to the menu, chips and dipping sauces. Don’t waste your time with these unoriginal hacks.
