Last Sydney blog post from my weekend away and I’m ending it off on a fresh note!
An early morning drive to Pyrmont for some amazingly fresh sashimi at the Sydney Fish Markets for an easy breakfast/brunch!
We headed into the main fish market hall and wandered around the food stalls noting down what particular seafood we were going to treat our taste buds on. Our eyes lit up by the sight of fresh sashimi, cooked seafood and the good ol classic of ‘fish and chips’. It was like being a kid again in a candy store, but better… way better!!
Sashimi stash and seaweed salad
We stopped in our tracks when we came across these babies… scampi sashimi!!

We knew how good these were so we got two each. Each scampi was slit down the centre which allowed us to easily split the crustacean into halves and pull out the sweet and buttery flesh that literally melted away in ones mouth. Absolutely divine.
Tuna and salmon sashimi
A small tray of fresh tuna and salmon sashimi slices; fresh firm flesh – so so tasty.
Another favourite of mine, scallop sashimi. These were huge and had to be sliced in half, the meat was succulent with a natural sweetness.
Fresh and light with some crunch from the seaweed and sprinkled sesame seeds.
Piles of live mud crab
I would definitely recommend the Sydney Fish Markets to sashimi and seafood fans. Hire a car or grab a cab, you won’t be disappointed cause the seafood don’t get any fresher than that! They’ve even got tours on at the SFM, check it out at their website here.
