Great, simple and tasty Italian food with friendly and efficient service at Parlamento on North Terrace in the CBD directly opposite the train station.
Capesante e chorizo: warm salad of panfried scallops, chorizo and shallots; $16.90
Yummo!! Perfectly panfried plump sweet scallops paired with spicy chorizo pieces, an extremely flavourful and crunchy fresh salad of rocket, roasted capsicum and balsamic vinaigrette served on a chargrilled ciabatta. I’d happily order this entree in a main size and have it all to myself. 🙂
Penne basilica; $18.90 (entree size)
I stuck with the basics and ordered their signature dish, the penne basilica with chicken breast pieces, semi-sundried tomatoes, roast capsicum, fresh basil in a cream tomato salsa. Simple and delizioso.
Ravioli di yucca al burro e salvia con nocciole ed amaretti: large pasta parcels filled with pumpkin served in butter, sage sauce; $23.90
The Stranger opted for something a little bit different from their menu, the pumpkin ravioli with toasted hazelnuts and crumbled amaretti biscuits. Al dente ravioli parcels with a white(?) pumpkin filling and a sweet and crunchy finish on the palate with the toasted hazelnuts and sweet crumbled amaretti biscuits with a hint of spice from the sage sauce. A really unusual dish but an enjoyable one. I would probably order it in an entree size the next time I pay Parlamento a visit as the dish got heavy towards the end and the sweetness did get a bit too much. It was a main and dessert in one!
Bellies full and satisfied, it looked like the tiramisu will have to wait until next time. 😉
