Headed down the bay with the stranger for some sun and and sea breeze where we had a little bite at Fish on Marina Pier.
Oysters kilpatrick; $27.00 a dozen
Fish plate; $30.00
A simple order of oysters kilpatrick and a fish plate with battered garfish, crumbed calamari and prawns with chips and a small salad. Service was lacklustre and incredibly slow with our food being served and our waiter informing us that the cutlery will be right out. We waited for a few minutes and realised that she had forgotten as she started serving other customers so we just dug in using our fingers – that’s how fish and chips are supposed to be eaten anyways right? The cutlery eventually came out but our fingers were already greased up. Not the most affordable seaside snack but when in Rome… or in this case, when in Marina Pier… (it doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it huh? :P)

Roo and haloumi steak sandwich; 13.00
Pumpkin and haloumi burger; $11.00
Pure deliciousness and freshness at Cafe Troppo. The roo steak sandwich consisted of fresh slices of sourdough filled with marinated kangaroo fillet, caramelised onions, tomato relish and fresh salad topped with grilled SA haloumi. Drooling yet? And my order of the pumpkin burger had seasoned roast pumpkin topped with grilled SA haloumi in a soft sourdough roll with fresh salad and pesto. So much vibrancy in colour, flavour and texture! A splendid and simple lunch affair with the ladies. :)~ Good luck getting a seat at Cafe Troppo!
