Summer is around the corner with more daylight during the day as the sun sets later during the night. You know what that means? Warm summer nights with mates over a drink or two just relaxing and having fun, after all, that’s what summer is all about right?
The Collins Bar entrance, front bar, birdcage
The stranger and I were invited to the media launch at The Collins Bar – Garden Party Garden Soiree at the Hilton Adelaide Hotel overlooking Victoria Square to experience the tastes, sights and sounds of a traditional English summer garden party. The cocktail haunt was transformed into a sophisticated and very pretty indoor garden soiree – the ladies will love the decor! Faux grass was rolled out at the entrance of the venue; birdcages, candles, vines and flowers adorned the surroundings, on the tables, corners and hanging from the ceiling. The presentation and look of the drinks all reflected the garden theme with dainty floral tea pots and cups as well as creative quench-thirsting creations served in watering cans for drink top-ups.

Super cool! Served by the spoon; each one had a candied mint crisp and mojito jelly topped with citrus fizz. The fizzy sherbet took me back to the 90s when they were all the rage… mmmm wizz fizz.. messy things, they were! Haha..
The slice of cucumber definitely helped with adding another layer of freshness and ‘cleanliness’ to each sip.
Beetroot mojito: beetroot juice, rum washed edible carrot, lime wedges and finished off with edible soil
Look at that mini carrot!! Too cute.
Mini pork sliders, mini roast beef bagels, drinks, drinks and more drinks
Some nibblies went around to treat our bellies and soak up some of that alcamahol. Soft smoky pulled pork sliders, very cute mini roast beef bagels dotted with poppy seeds and some seriously addictive crunchy firm panko crumbed deep fried prawns (not pictured). Yummy!
Pimms Cup: Pimms no.1, ginger ale, lemonade, fresh fruit, mint and all the trimmings and garden g&t’s
Pimms cups, front bar
Watering cans filled with goOooood stuff 😉
Glass half full… or glass half empty?
Tea & biscuits: tanquerey london dry gin, spice iced tea syrup, cointreau, kettle one vodka, fresh pressed citrus, coca cola served in an antique teapot

Dark and stormy
Another drink on the menu that piqued the strangers fancy and got his belly super intrigued was the BBQ Bloody Mary with bacon. Yup! That’s right. BACON. A bloody mary with bacon washed vodka, lashings of secret spiced bbq homemade mary mix with a garnish of crispy bacon and cherry tomato! I think we’ve gotta come back just to try that one alone!
The pop up garden soiree is open for a limited time only at the Collins Bar every Thursday from now until Thursday 12th December from 4pm until late. So get in quick, round up your workmates and get a drink into you and start the weekend celebrations early before TGIF rolls around the day after… but remember, you more than likely still have work the following day. 😉 Psst… they also have a quiet lounge area off to the side of the bar for more quiet and intimate conversations if that’s more your thing.
