I remember being introduced to Rekorderlig for the first time in 2011. A friend of mine had purchased a few bottles whilst we had a pizza night and I was an instant fan. Crisp and sweet and so easy to drink, and so yummy over a glass of ice. It was the perfect summers treat!
Fast forward a couple of years and Rekorderlig still makes an appearance on my shopping list every now and then, with the addition of a handful of new flavours to try!
Rekorderlig Cider has released a new flavour for the summer just passed; the ‘apple-guava’ made with lashings of delicious apples and a luscious burst of tropical Guava. Summer may be over but that won’t stop me from enjoying this beverage over the Autumn months. It is recommended that this cider is to be served over ice with a wedge of lime.
I enjoyed a tall glass of the apple-guava cider over the weekend, refreshingly sweet. The addition of the guava notes danced on my palate and the hint of lime from the wedge balanced out the flavours nicely with a touch of tang.
I thought I’d get a bit ‘creative’ with the cider and googled for some ‘beer’ anything recipes before settling on this one: beer spice cake! (Contrary to the recipe, I took my cake out after 30mins and it was perfectly cooked and incredibly moist and fragrant.)
The cake was delicious and smelt heavenly with the apple-guava cider lingering through the cake and spice notes from the cinnamon, all spice and cloves. The addition of chopped walnuts added an extra textural element that I thoroughly enjoyed. If I was to make the cake again, I think I’d reduce the amount of brown sugar as I did find it a bit too sweet but other than that, a super duperly easy cake to make!
