Hutt Street has a new boutique coffee shop aptly called Coffylosophy which is a few doors down from The Mac Factory right next to Biga. The cafe offers a wide variety of coffees, juices, all day breakfast, lunch and dessert options.
The coffee shop itself was rather small and narrow with limited seating inside against one wall and the counter/kitchen/food displays on the other. The seating wall was plastered with a library book wallpaper which gave the sense that the space was smaller than it was as I found it to be busy, cluttered and a bit overwhelming. That aside, the coffee, I was a fan of – and with a shop name like that, you’d expect it to be good.
Pour over coffee
Our motley crew of 4 sipped on our afternoon caffeine hits for the day whilst we dug into the food they had on offer. A rather lengthy menu with a wide range of options was offered: all day breakfast of croissants, open toast, fruit salad, muesli, banana bread and waffles as well as sweet and savoury crepe options and wraps, quesadillas and sour dough sandwiches for the lunch crowd.
Smoked salmon, avocado and creme fraiche savoury crepe served with rocket salad; $10.50
J was a fan of her savoury smoked salmon crepe. Light, simple and all around healthy.
Roasted chicken, sauteed mushrooms, spinach, cheese and chipotle mayo sourdough sandwich; $13.50
My sandwich was good and hit the spot in reducing my hunger pangs; the chipotle mayo was a life savour as it added that much needed tangy sweet kick however I would have liked a
bit more lot more as I found the overall sandwich to be a bit too dry.
Not a bad experience, great coffees and friendly service. I wouldn’t go rushing back but if I was in the area and needed a caffeine pick me up, I’d return and possibly try one of their desserts on offer.
