Towards the end of March, I was invited to ‘Glimpse’, the VIP launch of Chocolat by Daniela which was held at Emma Hack’s gallery in North Adelaide–yes, the same Emma Hack that painted the massive mural at Madame Hanoi. It was to showcase an array of handcrafted artisan chocolates made by SA entrepreneur, self taught and passionate chocolatier, Daniela Rose.
Woodside Cheese Wrights cheese spread, guests in awe over the chocolate, hello Mr. Peacock!, fresh flowers
Not only were guests treated to the exquisite chocolates, but other supporting local businesses were also on hand that evening for the launch: Howard Vineyard, Woodside Cheese Wrights, Kangaroo Island Spirits and Bizzarro (event stylists).
Ch-ch-check out the massive cheese spread!
But of course… you’re wanting to see the beautiful chocolates…
Kiss On the Lips
To begin… A ‘Kiss On the Lips’ inspired by the taste of one perfect kiss. White chocolate ganache; botanical infusion with lime, ginger, basil hints and a subtle accent of Woodside goats curd. Designed to accompany KIs gin and tonic. Beautiful, a melt in the mouth bite that was light, sweet and refreshing with hints of lime, ginger and basil that lingered on the palate.
To Sir, With Love
Progressively, the chocolates got a little richer with the next one called, ‘To Sir, With Love’, the modern flavour of etiquette, chivalry and style. Inspired by the elegance of the gentle man: Cary Grant. Dark whipped ganache lightly infused with Howard Vineyard tawny port, a blushing blueberry reduction and a hint of Lloyd Brothers extra virgin olive oil. Designed to be enjoyed during the evening. A smooth and soft velvet whipped ganache with a nice pop of natural sweetness from the blueberry.
The land flowing with milk and honey
And to finish… rows of ‘The land flowing milk and honey’, a milk chocolat ganache, infused with KIs walnut and honey liqueur, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, pepperberry and Ligurian honey roasted walnuts. Designed to be savoured last. A taste of luxury and richness with a smidgen of warmth left behind from the sweet liqueur.
And of course, the signature chocolat by Daniela…
Stole My Heart
A piece of Daniela with a flavour that lasts… handcrafted amaretto liqueur with coffee marsala infused ganache, roasted almond praline centre and smothered in milk or dark chocolate finished with lustre dust and sugared petals. Beautiful, a lovely combination of flavours and the perfect amount of textural differences. I couldn’t pick a favourite between Stole my heart and a Kiss on the lips.
My favourite… tulips!

These chocolates are not your everyday chocolates; gourmet, beautiful and one of a kind with a story behind each one of them. Daniela uses high quality coverture chocolate and sources local, natural and organic ingredients wherever possible as well as collaborating with brands and supporting local producers to showcase the best of SA wines, spirits, craft beers and botanicals. You can try some of the chocolates made by Daniela (‘Stole my Heart’ and ‘Dirty Mojito Lips’) at St. Louis House of Fine Ice-cream and Dessert in Glenelg. I know who I’m calling when I’m needing these beautiful chocolates for an event or party. 😉
