Sean’s Kitchen recently celebrated their 1st birthday in October and luckily for us, we got an invite to their birthday whilst sampling their new summer season menu at the same time! Oh and of course, getting a slice of their birthday cake too!
Since Sean’s Kitchen’s opening in October 2014, over 50,000 diners have walked through and over 20,000 serves of mac and cheese have left the kitchen!
The main focus at Sean’s Kitchen is to utilise lots of local South Australian produce; the mussels are from Port Lincoln, oysters from Coffin Bay, pork from Mount Barker and chicken from the Barossa. The new summer menu is a treat with the dishes created in a classic New York style with fresh and seasonal produce.
Here’s a little preview on what we got to have during their birthday celebration.
Heirloom tomatoes, strawberry, watermelon, pomegranate, lemon labne cheese; $24.00
Fresh, bright, light and summery; a refreshing salad for the warmer months that does not disappoint!
Fremantle octopus, kipfler potatoes, Sicilian olive, chilli, gremolata; $28.00
We also got to sample the buffalo mozzarella, grilled peaches, pistachio pesto; $26.00, green pea guacamole, lettuce boats, light rye toast; $18.00 and crab salad, ‘Bloody Mary’ vinaigrette, sourdough; $22.00, all of which were mopped clean before a picture was taken but do give these dishes a go too. The buffalo mozzarella was light and springy and complemented the sweet grilled peaches perfectly whilst the guacamole must have been the best one we’ve had. Ever. So good, well balanced with a nice texture with some peas mixes through. Oh, and that crab salad, which is chef Sean Connolly’s favourite was on point… that ‘Bloody Mary’ vinaigrette deserves a soup spoon to go with it cause you don’t wanna leave any drop behind!

We thoroughly enjoyed the new summer dishes and a revisit is definitely on the cards–need to get that guacamole again! Oh and we also need to take advantage of the $1 oyster happy hour which runs from Monday through to Thursday between 5-6pm! Get onto it folks!
