Happy Friday folks! The end of they year is only a month away now… where did 2015 go?!
Here are some delicious brunch snaps from Orto Trading in Surry Hills, Sydney from a foodie trip taken back in September! 😛
Pretty blooms on the table
The cafe is within the burbs and only a short stroll from Crown Street… or in my case, a bit of a walk from Central Station whilst lugging my baggage behind me as I headed straight there from the airport! Haha.
Orto is Italian for ‘a vegetable garden’ which makes perfect sense when you’re there with wheelbarrows, potted herbs and a recycled vintage soda bottle installation. Super cool place!
Orto Trading Co is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers classic comfort food, serving contemporary Modern Australian cuisine. They also have an extensive wine list offering bottles from Australia, France and Argentina but it was a tad bit too early for myself to delve into that on my visit.
Hot smoked salmon bruschetta with fennel, snow pea tendrils, lemon yogurt, poached egg; $18.00
It was a choice between their popular Southern fried chicken benni with Orto’s English muffin and hollandaise, the Hash 2.0 with Birkshire ham, tomato, avocado, rocket, lemon, asparagus and poached egg or the hot smoked salmon bruschetta… with the salmon winning out as I wanted something a little bit more ‘lighter’ and ‘cleaner’ to start my day off with.
A mound of smoked salmon with crispy fennel and snow pea tendrils sat on a toasty slice of bruschetta, all drizzled in a zippy lemon yogurt with a perfectly poached egg on the side. A tasty start to that morning with a light, yet filling feed. Yum!
