And just like that, summer is over for another year. That doesn’t mean one can’t still enjoy some sweet and cold treats whilst the heat is still lingering around. Head to the east side in the city for some authentic crepes at the cute French creperie that goes by the name of Le Carpe Diem Cafe, carpe diem translating to ‘seize the day‘. Crepes is their specialty, both of the sweet and savoury variety (goes by the name of galettes), however there are also other French pastries, cakes and tarts which can be found in the front counter in the cafe.
Josephine crepe; $13.50
We opted for the sweet crepe on our visit whilst we downed a coffee to go along with it. The crepe in question, the Josephine crepe with pear, Belgian melted chocolate, toasted almonds and vanilla ice cream. A myriad of playful textures and temperature differences with a soft, slightly chewy and delicate crepe skin. Delish. The toasted almonds were a lovely addition providing that little bit of crunch.
Staff are friendly, helpful and they’re French too! That just adds to the authenticity of the place and transports you away to a little corner in a cafe somewhere in Paris. Visit Le Carpe Diem Cafe during your morning commute, lunch break or enjoy a late night dessert catch up with friends to ring in the weekend! 😉
