If you’re an avid Instagram lurker, you would’ve definitely seen desserts pop up on your feed from the newest hip dessert bar: 50sixone (Psst, it’s a play on the locations postcode! 5061). We were invited to their opening event and got to have a sneak peek at some of their savoury options, but most importantly, gawk at their sweet artery clogging concoctions whilst also getting a taste of some of their signature dishes during the event.
Ice cream fridge
The venue itself is super chic and cool. It’s like a funky NYC loft, warehouse-y with plenty of light, use of timber, an exposed brick wall and plenty of greenery with the use of plants and succulents hanging from the ceiling and cute little planters dotted along the tables. And you definitely can’t miss the contemporary bright green leather couch running along the wall of 50sixone opposite the counter, ice cream fridge and fire place!

50sixone opened to a line of customers, they hype was huge! Did it live up to it? Based on reviews that we’ve read online, it seems to be a mix bag, more so on the negative side of things. We would suggest that you should wait for the hype to die down, let the team find their feet and then make a visit there and make up your own judgement.
Whatever the case, we’re sure the desserts will allow you to get snap and Instagram happy as the food is very photogenic and it will be a sweet and decadent addition to your social media feed. 😉
